SA-TIED discussion on inclusive growth broadcast on SABC

1 February, 2019

On 31 January, the SA-TIED programme hosted a research results meeting and a poster presentation by SA-TIED's Young Scholars in Pretoria, South Africa. The day started with a very fruitful conversation on tackling unemployment and inequality by fostering inclusive growth. The event was attended by 129 persons and led by SA-TIED researcher and Professor of Economics at Trinity College Dublin, Carol Newman

The discussion's opening remarks on the importance of SA-TIED for the region were heard from Duncan Pieterse, the Acting Deputy-Director General for Macroeconomic Policy of the National Treasury of South Africa. His remarks were followed by a lively panel featuring Rudi Dicks, the Outcomes Facilitator for Employment and Inclusive Growth of the Department of Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation, Zingiswa Losi, the President of COSATU, and Sipho Pityana, the President of Business Unity South Africa. The event was broadcast by the SABC

A reception and poster session featuring SA-TIED's young scholars' research on a range of important topics in inclusive economic development followed the event.
